Our Souls Wants God
Read Psalms 39:1 through 45:17
The small deer of the Florida Keys have learned to be on guard against the salty water that collects in tidal pools and crevasses of coral rock. Drinking it can bring death to the diminutive animals.
It is easy to allow the burdens of life to rob of us of God’s provision. Like a Key Deer drinking salty water, we could be in great danger.
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:1,2).
It is wonderful news that, with oceans all around, there are springs of fresh water bubbling through the coral. The deer know where to find them. That water gives life.
God places His water of life in the middle of the trouble and toils of our existence. As we drink from His everlasting fountain, we are sustained, renewed, and refreshed. Our souls long for the clean unpolluted water of God. As we drink of Him, we are saved and sustained.
Prayer for Today: Oh God, give me Your water as I drink from Your Word and learn of You.
